Dear all

This is an area specific circular regards plans and upcoming events in your area.

I was looking forward to return to the US this year after and absence of seven years. Some events were already confirmed. I made it clear, however, that I would need a good handful of invitations from educational institutions, in order to have solid ground under my feet, applying for a visa as an independent musician and crossing borders into the States three times in a row.

Various people were following up leads, but I could secure only a single invitation before the summer holidays. Moreover, an arbitrary "security deposit" of some sorts have been slapped on visa applicants, further sending an unwelcoming message to would be visitors like me.

Too many accounts of people being deported, ill-treated and refused entry for no good reason are doing the rounds, raising the risk for me and my naturalized US citizen sister and her family of unpleasant and consequential surprises.

I have therefore decided to postpone my return for yet another year while monitoring the situation.

To give it the best chance, I am beginning now already to ask you for your ideas and especially leads to possibilities at schools and colleges for workshops and/or performances.
