Its organization follows the three-dimensional
structure of HA! which translates into nine different moods or modalities
of feeling. They
form a kind of narrative of the heart, or a natural evolutionary sequence.
Very briefly, the site is organized according to FOLDERS > ALBUMS > ITEMS.
Folders represent the nine different moods:
1. subjective
1.1 the mystical
1.2 the expressive
1.3 the connective
2. objective
2.1 the exploratory
2.2 the extractive
2.3 the constructive
3. relational
3.1 the emotive
3.2 the distributive
3.3 the full embrace
More on the three-dimensional structure
The albums in each folder represent the 13
different mediums, which are: 01 Essays, 02 Poems, 03 Gedigte (Afrikaans
poems), 04 Gedichten (Dutch poems), 05 Prose, 06 Series (essays as chapters
on a specific theme), 07 Recordings, 08 Soundtracks (10 to 13 mins and longer),
09 Drawings (various media), 10 Photography, 11 Slide Shows, 12 Videos and
13 Films (10 mins and longer).
The items within each album are the individual creations - like video files, sound files and picture files (note that all text material are saved as picture files). The items are chronologically ordered, from the earliest to the latest date of creation. (Note that, because they contain bulky items, 05 Prose, 06 Series and 11 Slide Shows are placed in separate sub-folders).
Coming to grips with this outlay opens the door to experiencing the site to its full potential. It is first and foremost intended as an emotive experience, rather than just a library of works. Each album then becomes a journey along one of the nine moods. For instance, one can go on an extensive mystical journey when following all the different mediums in the 1-1 MYSTICAL folder.
BONUS FOLDERS
There are two bonus folders. The first is called Journeys. Each journey-folder contains albums with special theme-based mixed media selections that provide for longer and deepened experiences, like watching a full-length film. Examples are a journey of "The Beloved Country" (South Africa) and "Mira unfolding" (a collection of items containing creativity by Mira).
The second is
the 90s Archive the complete editions of The Papers
that appeared monthly from 1995-8. These are all hand drawings and writings
with black on white from my minimalistic and pre-technological days as a hitch
hiker.
