Sarie Marais vir viool en orkes

One the best known best known Afrikaner folk songs was arranged by me for an Afrikaans Festvial Concert (Ukkasie) in the Royal Albert Hall, 2004. The accompaniment is an electronic recording that needs to be joined by a live violinst and pianist. The last part of the recording is meant for singing along of the song by a large crowd, as was the case in the Albert Hall. The violinst then was Zanta Hofmeyr with myself on the piano. The recording here is with simulated violin and live cello. Unfortunately i am not in posession of any recordings of that event, of which i was musical director.

"sarie marais vir viool en orkes" has been perfomed regularly by me in HA! performances over the years, with many a small and bigger crowd joining in with the song. I also used it early on as dance accompaniment piece. It is often well received in foreign countries as an exciting specimen of South African culture.

A transcription for full orchestra does not yet exist
